Accuracy-preserving source term quadrature for third-order edge-based discretization

چکیده
In this paper, we derive a family of source term quadrature formulas for preserving third-order accuracy of the node-centered edge-based discretization for conservation laws with source terms on arbitrary simplex grids. A three-parameter family of source term quadrature formulas is derived, and as a subset, a oneparameter family of economical formulas is identified that does not require second derivatives of the source term. Among the economical formulas, a unique formula is then derived that does not require gradients of the source term at neighbor nodes, thus leading to a significantly smaller discretization stencil for source terms. All the formulas derived in this paper do not require a boundary closure, and therefore can be directly applied at boundary nodes. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate third-order accuracy at interior and boundary nodes for one-dimensional grids and linear triangular/tetrahedral grids over straight and curved geometries.

Accuracy-preserving boundary flux quadrature for finite-volume discretization on unstructured grids
In this paper, we derive a general accuracy-preserving boundary flux quadrature formula for the secondand third-order node-centered edge-based finite-volume discretizations on triangular and tetrahedral grids. It is demonstrated that the general formula reduces to some well-known formulas for the second-order scheme in the case of linear fluxes. Some special boundary grids are also examined. In...
متن کاملDivergence formulation of source term
In this paper, we propose to write a source term in the divergence form. A conservation law with a source term can then be written as a single divergence form. We demonstrate that it enables to discretize both the conservation law and the source term in the same framework, and thus greatly simplifies the construction of numerical schemes. To illustrate the advantage of the divergence formulatio...
متن کاملNumerical resolution of large deflections in cantilever beams by Bernstein spectral method and a convolution quadrature.
The mathematical modeling of the large deflections for the cantilever beams leads to a nonlinear differential equation with the mixed boundary conditions. Different numerical methods have been implemented by various authors for such problems. In this paper, two novel numerical techniques are investigated for the numerical simulation of the problem. The first is based on a spectral method utiliz...
متن کاملDiscretization of the Multiscale SemiconductorBoltzmann Equation by DiffusiveRelaxation Schemes
In this paper we derive diffusive relaxation schemes for the linear semiconductor Boltzmann equation that work in both the kinetic and diffusive regimes. Similar to our earlier approach for multiscale transport equations, we use the evenand oddparity formulation of the kinetic equation, and then reformulate it into the diffusive relaxation system (DRS). In order to handle the implicit anisotrop...
متن کاملNumerical Solution via Laplace Transforms of a Fractional Order Evolution Equation
We consider the discretization in time of a fractional order diffusion equation. The approximation is based on a further development of the approach of using Laplace transformation to represent the solution as a contour integral, evaluated to high accuracy by quadrature. This technique reduces the problem to a finite set of elliptic equations with complex coefficients, which may be solved in pa...
